Lebanese President Aoun affirmed that the country’s army should be the “sole authority for security” in the south of the country. He added, “The negotiation path is the only option left after other solutions, including war, have been exhausted”. “It is time for [the army] to return fully and assume its responsibilities as the sole authority for security there.” And with reference to Hizbollah, he stated “those attempting to stir sectarian or religious strife will not succeed, because civil peace is a red line”.
