President Trump said that “Iran’s new regime president, much less radicalised and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the U.S. for a ceasefire. We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion”. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson countered that “Trump’s claim that Iran has requested a ceasefire is false and baseless”, while President Pezeshkian’s office maintained that Iran’s position “regarding the patriotic defence of the country’s integrity against the aggression of evil forces and the conditions for ending the imposed war has not changed in any way”.
