The UN Security Council voted to extend the secretary-general’s monthly reporting on Houthi attacks in the Red Sea for six months. The resolution passed with 13 votes in favour and two abstentions. A U.S. diplomat, welcoming the vote, said: “The defence of freedom of navigation is a crucial element of international peace and security. The Houthi threat reverberates well beyond the region. It creates risks for commerce and secure, reliable supply chains”.
