Bert Koenders Appointed to Crisis Group’s Board of Directors

Crisis Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Bert Koenders to its Board of Directors.

Bert Koenders is a Professor of Peace, Justice and Security at Leiden University and a Senior Advisor for the World Bank. He is also the Chair of the Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV), an independent body that advises the government and parliament of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on foreign policy. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands from 2014 to 2017 and Minister for Development Cooperation between 2007 and 2010. He was also Under-Secretary-General of the UN and head of the UN peacekeeping missions in Côte d’Ivoire and Mali. Bert Koenders is a longstanding supporter of Crisis Group’s work and a member of its Board of Trustees since 2018.
