Supporting Global Participation in WILPF’s 2026 International Congress 

This year, the Congress will be hosted by WILPF Cameroon and held online from 18-21 July 2026. While we had hoped to meet in person, global financial constraints affecting many civil society organisations mean that a virtual format is currently the most viable way for us to convene. 

Yet a virtual Congress is not equally accessible to everyone. 

For many participants, especially in parts of Africa, South and Central America, South and Southwest Asia, and North Africa, joining an online international gathering involves significant practical costs. Reliable electricity and stable internet access cannot always be taken for granted, and participation may require securing safe shared spaces, backup power sources, or stronger connectivity for several consecutive days. 

Ensuring that all Sections and members can take part meaningfully in Congress — wherever they are in the world — is essential to WILPF’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and collective decision-making. 

A Collective Effort for Inclusive Participation 

As a global membership-based movement, WILPF has always relied on solidarity and mutual support across regions. In that spirit, we are inviting members, friends, and supporters who are able to do so to contribute towards enabling broad and equitable participation in Congress 2026. 

Contributions will help support: 

• Reliable internet and connectivity for delegates in low-resource contexts 
• Access to safe shared spaces or backup power where needed 
• Participation costs for sections with limited financial capacity

Why It Matters 

The WILPF Congress is a meaningful moment for members across the world to come together, strengthen relationships, and reflect collectively on our shared priorities and direction as a global movement. 

At a time when civic spaces are shrinking and feminist and peace movements are facing growing backlash in many parts of the world, gathering as a global movement carries particular significance. It is essential that this Congress takes place in the most engaging, inclusive, and equitable way possible, so that all Sections and Groups can participate meaningfully and help shape our shared direction.  

Making this space accessible to all is a shared responsibility and an expression of the solidarity that defines our movement.
