Addressing talks with Washington, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) maintained that “our missile program stands entirely separate from the nuclear one. It is a domestic matter, basically linked to our national security. As such, it cannot be part of these negotiations”. Ali Larijani further posited on the nuclear front that “we completely agree on not moving towards [obtaining such] weapons, so there is a common and reasonable issue that can be the subject of discussions between the two sides”, but added at zero enrichment was “unrealistic… It is impractical for a country that has already mastered this technology to reduce it to zero”.
