President Trump asserted that “we saved a lot of lives yesterday,” referring to his claim that Iran had stopped killing demonstrators and halted plans for executions, while the White House underscored that “if the killing continues, there will be grave consequences… all options remain on the table”. Separately, the Treasury Department announced sanctions on “several senior Iranian officials who oversee elements of the security forces that are violently repressing the Iranian people”, including SNSC Secretary Ali Larijani, as well as eighteen individuals and entities with “critical roles in laundering the proceeds of Iranian petroleum and petrochemical sales”. In parallel, the State Department designated an Iranian prison “where women have endured cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment”.
