Interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said: “We demand Israel to go back to the pre-December 8 [2024] lines”. He insisted on adherence to the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel and warned that “seeking other agreements such as a demilitarised zone … could lead us to a dangerous place”. The president added that Syria had been the “victim of over 1,000 [Israeli] air strikes and over 400 incursions” since the fall of the Assad regime in 2024.
